Q. My question has to do with explaining to the people who handle
accommodations at my law school why I need extended time and private
room to deal with my exams. Making them understand that it is not test
anxiety that gives me trouble. I have borderline personality disorder.
I know the material. But I get hung up, especially on multiple choice,
because there is no totally correct answer, just choose the best. How
do I explain this?
A. I don't know if/how I can help with your situation. Sometimes, a letter or note from your treating physician/therapist may be helpful in convincing your school to make the accommodations for you. I'm not aware of any literature or research one could cite to justify your request. Visit MH Matters for information and articles.
